Dr Leephile Taunyane

(14/12/1928 to 30/10/2013)

NAPTOSA learnt with great sadness of the passing away of Dr Leephile Taunyane.

LM Taunyane is fondly remembered as the founding president of the National Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA) in 1991.  He helped bring together teachers who came from different backgrounds and who had been separated by the apartheid ideology in education.  He was an educator and leader of great vision and integrity whose legacy in education, community work and in the soccer world will long be remembered and respected.

He established an organisation for teachers which, more than 2 decades later continues to strive to provide quality education especially for the children of the disadvantaged masses of our country.

NAPTOSA leadership and member pass our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues at the passing of this great South African.
