As reported in the media, the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) has called a national strike for Wednesday, 25 April 2018 against the proposed minimum wage and amendments to labour laws.

SAFTU indicated that the approval obtained from NEDLAC for the action would allow all workers to participate - obviously on the “no work, no pay” basis. Whether this is true, cannot be confirmed.

Be it as it may, NAPTOSA is not affiliated to SAFTU and will therefore not be participating in the strike action. Should the strike action nevertheless prevent members from reaching their places of work, it is advisable to report to the relevant district office.
