Post level 1 teachers and 150 professional development (PD) points (Are you aware that this concerns you?)
In keeping with the widely held belief that teachers should continue to deepen their knowledge and refine their skills throughout their careers, the South African Council of Educators (SACE) have launched the Continuing Professional Teacher Development (CPTD) Management System.
This is a different process to the required SACE registration of all teachers. Everyone (from principal to post level 1 teacher) has to ‘sign up’ for the CPTD Management System and is required to earn 150 professional development (PD) points over their three year cycle.

The Timeframes:
2013 principals and deputy principals had to ‘sign up’ on line. They had to implement from 2014.
2014 Departmental heads had to ‘sign up’ on line in order to begin their first year of implementation in 2015.
2015 Secondary and combined school post level 1 teachers had to ‘sign up’ on line begin the first year in 2016. 2016 All primary school and special school post level 1 teachers must ‘sign up’ on line in and start their three year cycle in 2017.
