The Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) has issued a warning of individuals who are falsely posing as officials or agents of the Fund and are charging a fee to assist members, pensioners and beneficiaries to claim alleged outstanding funds.
Members and former members of NAPTOSA, and their families, are requested to be vigilant and to be mindful of the following:
- The services of the GEPF are FREE – if someone therefore requests payment to render any pension related service, he/she must be regarded not to be from the GEPF
- Not to share any personal information such as identity number and bank account details with anyone who asserts that they can assist with claiming pension benefits on your behalf.
Should you be approached by anyone who requests payment for rendering GEPF services, you are urged to report such individuals or companies to the GEPF or the South African Police Service because they will be committing an act of attempted fraud.
