The employer indicated yesterday that they are not yet in a position to announce the salary increase for 1 April 2016, because they are awaiting the Minister of Public Service and Administration’s signature for the Determination on the cost-of-living increase.

The assurance was nevertheless given to the unions that the employer is committed to the implementation of the wage agreement concluded in 2015 in terms of which it was agreed that the salary increase on 1 April 2016 would be the projected CPI for 2016/17, as determined by National Treasury, plus 1 %.

Parties have agreed to schedule a special PSCBC Council meeting for 7 April 2016 when it is expected that the employer will be in a position to announce the increase and also indicate when the payment of the increase can be expected.

Members will be informed as soon as information on the percentage of the increase becomes available.
