NAPTOSA supports International STAND UP to Bullying Day
Celebrate a bully free day on Friday, 31 January 2014
“Thinking something is wrong is only step one…
take a public stand on bullying “
The International STAND UP to Bullying Day is a great way to kick-start 2014 schooling.
Bullying is a learnt behaviour and can be addressed at all levels. Children need to be taught alternative ways of resolving problems. Acts of kindness and respect should be encouraged in every classroom and home.
NAPTOSA acknowledges that bullying has added another dimension to classroom management. The following dates have been set aside on the international calendar to raise awareness on and eradicate bullying in our schools. NAPTOSA calls on schools to devote some time throughout the year (perhaps during assemblies) to highlight issues on bullying. The following dates have been earmarked for focus on bullying:
- Friday,31 January 2014
- Friday,28 February 2014
- Friday,2 May 2014 ( Stand4Change)
School managers, organisations, educators and learners can add their name in support of this campaign. Sign up to STAND UP to Bullying and download posters and other materials (www.standupday.com) to help you make Friday, 31 January 2014 a bully-free day.
Teachers can “bully-proof†their classroom by taking an anti-bullying training course online. Go to www.bullyproofclassroom.com and click on the Online Professional Development icon.
