The 4th Biennial National Congress of National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA)
The National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA) will be holding its 4th National Congress from 30 October to 1 November 2014 at Kopanong Conference Centre in Benoni.
The theme for congress this year is “Racing to the Top: The challenges of Quality and Equity in Education. More than 270 delegates from all nine provinces and guests from government, business and international education union expected to attend the Congress. The NAPTOSA national congress is the highest decision-making body of the Union and meets biennially. Congress is comprised of National office bearers, Provincial office bearers, Provincial Chairpersons and delegates from all nine provinces representing NAPTOSA members.
The Congress will deliberate on constitutional changes, provincial motions and adopt policies by means of resolutions to further the objectives of the Union. The Congress will assess its progress in implementing resolutions taken at Congress 2012.
The National Congress shall also focus on the following key issues:
- Challenges of quality and equity in education
- Inclusive Education
- CAPS Curriculum - The added adminitrative workload on teachers
- Conditions of Service - Adequate resourcing
- Progression and Promotion Policy
- Post provisioning for specialised subjects
- The state of disciple and safety in schools
