SUSPENSION OF CIRCULAR 9/2016: PLANNING, REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY FRAMEWORK FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

After a long and uphill battle in the Provincial Education Labour Relations Council (PELRC), GDE Circular 9 of 2016, Planning, reporting and accountability framework for public schools, has been suspended with immediate effect, until further notice. Circular 9 referenced the processes that underpin Whole School Improvement and include School Self Evaluation (SSE), School Improvement Planning (SIP), management of under-performing schools and district/head office support.

However, it should be noted that all schools are to continue with processes of SSE and SIP as contextualised within the National Gazette on Whole School Evaluation (Gazette No 22512, 2001), i.e. business as usual with regard to SSE and SIP.
