NAPTOSA Gauteng News Flash 67 of 2014: Important amendments to the PAM

We alerted members to some of the changes due to be made to the Personnel Administrative Measures (PAM) in News Flash 42/2014. The Minister of Basic Education published the amendments in a Government Gazette (No 38249 dated 27 November 2014). These amendments are intended to align conditions of service for educators employed in terms of the Employment of Educators Act with the provisions of PSCBC Resolution 1 of 2012.

Pay Progression for first time appointments (educators) (clause 5 of PSCBC Resolution 1/2012)
An educator appointed for the first time in public education shall be eligible for pay progression after serving an uninterrupted period of 24 months [Comment: this means that an educator who started teaching in 2014 will only be eligible for pay progression of 1% on 1 July 2016]
