Following the revised salary offer tabled by the State as employer in the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council, of which members were informed through National News Flash 30 of 2021, the NAPTOSA National Standing Committee (NSC) met to discuss the offer.

The view of the NSC was that the deal must now be concluded to enable our members to benefit immediately and that NAPTOSA should therefore support the conclusion and signing of the deal. It was further decided that a final salary survey should be conducted among members. This was effected on 7 and 8 July 2021.

It was pleasing to see how our members responded in numbers to the call to participate in the survey with almost 30% of members exercising their right to vote, which constitutes more than a representative sample. Enhancing the representativeness of the survey is the fact that the votes cast, covered almost all provinces.

We are delighted to announce that members overwhelmingly voted for the acceptance of the offer and signing of an agreement, with 93,2 % voting in favour and only 6,8% voting against such acceptance and signing. Over and above the outcome of the survey, many messages supporting the views of the leadership had also been received.
