National News Flash 19 of 2014: "Spelling BEE" South Africa

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has commenced with a Spelling Bee programme (on a small scale) in 2014, in an effort to improve the level of literacy among learners, especially in primary schools. The 2014 programme is jointly run with implementing partners who will run the competition up to provincial level.
The National competition will be organized by the DBE. The implementing partners are: Adopt a Child Foundation; Mzansi Spelling Bee; Extra-mural Education Project (EMEP); Spell It; Camp-I-Am; and The City of Tshwane.
