World Read Aloud Day: 5 March 2014
The poor ANA results, as well as local and international studies, have highlighted the need for South African learners to improve their literacy skills. The World Read Aloud Day (WRAL) is an opportune time to promote reading to learners. The purpose of WRAL is explained below:
‘world Read Aloud Dayis an awareness day advocating for literacy as a right that belong to all people, celebrated around the world annually on the first Wednesday in March. It is LitWorld’s advocacy campaign for the human right of literacy calling worldwide attention to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories’
